The material we paint on can change the hue too. No two pieces of Douglas Fir have the same grain and colour either. That is especially true if they are cut from different parts of a tree. We love all of the different wood grain patterns that occur when you we mix boards together however as it means that every item we make is unique

When you’ve chosen a paint colour you have more choices.
Perhaps just bare (or burnt wood with a semi gloss clear finish) wood or maybe one (or two) coats of paint distressed so that they show the wood grain or the base colour as well as the top.
Then again, these can be sanded back to show the wood underneath and some colour.
If you are confused have a look at our Popular colours on the page links below
It could also be just be a flat colour or a top coat sanded a bit. Simple or complex it’s absolutely up to you.
We want to give you lots of choice but keep the process simple.
So, with just a little thought you’ll be able to create your perfect Ironfire piece.
